With solo sections, spoken rhythms and complex cycles the music is a celebration of the rising interest in tabla playing in Melbourne.
The tabla school performance will be followed by The LIsa Young Trio, a new collaboration of Lisa Young (voice) Ben Robertson (double bass) and Sam Evans (tabla).Lisa is a member of the acclaimed vocal group Coco’s Lunch, and her Jazz quartet recently won the ‘BELL’ award for ‘Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album’ with their album ‘GRACE’.
