Festival Of The Chariots at the St Kilda Festival
& The Fairfeild Amphitheatre Summer Series

Fine Blue Thread will be performing at two festivals on Sunday 12th February.
The Festival Of The Chariots is perhaps the oldest continually celebrated festival in the world. Originating in India it is not celebrated throughout the world and is appearing as part of the St Kilda Festival. Fine Blue Thread will play a 1 hour set from 12:45 - 1:45 at the Vedic Village.
The Fairfiled Amphitheatre Summer Series is a free outdoor event held by the river at the Fairfeild Amphitheatre. Fine Blue Thread will be playing a 40 minute set starting at 6:40pm

Sam Evans will be performing a creative night of music at the Boite with newly arrived sitar player Balvinder Singh and well known multi-instrumentalist Adrian Sherriff on Shakuhachi, Kanjira, Berimbou..... Performing in duets and trios this will be a night of interesting and surprising new music.

Melbourne Tabla School Concert 2011 @ The Boite
Friday 7th October 2011, 8pm

Sam Evans' Melbourne Tabla School will be performing their 2011 concert at the Boite World Music Cafe in North Fitzroy.
The concert will featuring up to 30 of Melbourne’s finest up and coming tabla players. Tabla students ranging from beginners to advanced will be performing intricate traditional compositions in small groups, in unison, with sitar accompaniment. With solo sections, spoken rhythms and complex cycles the music is a celebration of the rising interest in tabla playing in Melbourne.
The tabla school performance will be followed by Sam Evans performing a traditonal Indian duet with .......

Lisa Young Trio - Boxhill Community Arts Centre

The LIsa Young Trio is a new collaboration of Lisa Young (voice) Ben Robertson (double bass) and Sam Evans (tabla). Lisa is a member of the acclaimed vocal group Coco’s Lunch, and her Jazz quartet recently won the ‘BELL’ award for ‘Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album’ with their album ‘GRACE’. Lisa, Ben and Sam are well known to World/Jazz listeners as creative stylists and improvisers, incorporating Indian and African influences in their work. This new trio explores their diverse musical expression, layering Indian sounds, rhythms and textures in an evocative journey of song.

Melbourne Tabla School with Lisa Young @ The Boite
